YAMAHA THR30II mod:
The purpose of this mod is to transform our YAMAHA THR30II modeling amplifier into an head amp for electric guitar, but also for bass, thanks to the possibility of using external loudspeakers. This mod greatly expands the experience of using the amp by allowing you to limit the poor internal driver performance of only 3.5″ and will open the door to outdoor use of the amplifier.
The modification is absolutely non-invasive, perfectly reversible, does not require great technical knowledge and is really inespensive.
In the video I made you will find all the information you need to be able to realize the mod, the tutorial will therefore show you, step by step, all the actions to be performed, the complete list of the necessary materials, the tools and the equipment.
Inside the video you will also find a test of this cabinet with spectrographic measurements of the best acoustic capabilities that are obtained using simple external speakers.
Ultimately, with a little patience and in a very short time, you will transform your Yamaha THR30II into an advanced amplification system that will have nothing to envy of much more expensive systems, believe me.
I don’t know if the modification is applicable to the smaller Yamaha models, that is the THR10 and even less the THR5 but considering the small size you could opt for the installation of two 3.5mm jack sockets instead of the 6.3mm type, you should try.
If you wish to build a stereo cabinet specifically dedicated to the YAMAHA THR30II this is the tutorial to make it!
